Game 6: Turkey Men's Team overcome the Netherlands

With both teams taking to court for the first time at the 2015 European Wheelchair Basketball Championships, in the end it was Turkey who emerged victorious with a 52-46 triumph.

Indeed, Turkey dominated the first quarter of this gritty encounter as they worked to a 12-6 advantage over the Netherlands.

The second quarter saw the Dutch team hit back: Robin Poggenwisch earning consecutive baskets to bring his team back within four points (8-12). With little now separating the two sides, Turkey found another level to move extend their lead to 23-10 before and end-to-end final two minutes to the half saw the Netherlands hit back to 17-27.

The Netherlands continued their fightback in the third quarter: a stunning performance seeing the team close Turkey’s lead back down to just three points with 10 minutes remaining in the game: Turkey ahead by 38-35.

A nailbiting final quarter then ensued: a fantastic basket from Mattijs Bellers putting the Netherlands within just one point of their opponents (37-38). Turkey, however, continued to show great composure, maintaining their focus to edge out a 52-46 triumph.
