Wheelie good fun for all the Family!

Crowds from across Worcestershire, the UK and Europe have been descending on Worcester to be treated to some fast and furious action, taking place on the court.

Not only have they been watching the Worlds’ most popular Paralympic sport, they have also had the chance to try the sport themselves in the incredible Fanzone.

The Fanzone, which is based in the old warehouse at the back of the University of Worcester Arena, has been transformed into an area for spectators attending the Championships to visit and enjoy a variety of different activities including dance sessions, face painting, graffiti drawing or even a spot of table tennis.

One Worcester resident said “It’s been a fantastic day out, we’d never watched the sport before and had no idea what to expect but not only were we engrossed in the basketball, there was lots to do outside as well. We brought the whole family and everyone had lots of fun!”

Euro 2015 Wheelchair Basketball Engagement Officer, Lee Lough, said: “The Fanzone has been brilliantly received. We have had everyone in here from young children, teenagers, Mums, Dads, Grannies and Grandads. It gives them a place to socialise, get some refreshments from the café and have a go at different sports. We are hoping more of the Worcester public will come down and support the GB teams over the next few days and also experience the great atmosphere that the Fanzone is creating.”

With only a few days left in the Championships the Great Britain Men’s and Women’s team have secured their spots in the quarter final and are now encouraging the Worcestershire public to come down and support their efforts to bring home a medal!

Great Britain’s men will be playing tonight in the quarter final  against Italy at 19.45PM. Great Britain’s women will be playing in the semi-final on Friday 4th September at 18.15PM. Tickets are available on the door, online www.euro2015.uk or by calling the ticketline 0844 888 9991.
